Farm Animal and Veg Eating Advocacy
HSGV is committed to helping all kinds of animals including animals raised for food. We are not a vegan advocacy group, but rather an organization that supports every member's interests including those concerning diet. This being said, we welcome students with any dietary preferences into the organization without bias, discrimination, or judgement.
As a club, we believe in the importance of protecting animals from suffering and consuming healthy food that is managed sustainably and humanely. And so, we aim to raise awareness about how animals are treated in our current food industry and advocate for improving the lives of farm animals. We do this by running an ongoing Meatless Monday campaign at GVSU and hosting veg-eating and farm advocacy events throughout the year including inviting guest speakers like animal sentience expert, Dr. Jonathan Balcombe, to talk to GVSU students, holding an annual veg potluck, participating in Farm Sanctuary's Walk for Farm Animals, and sponsoring turkeys from Farm Sanctuary at Thanksgiving time.
Check out our Calendar for upcoming events like these throughout the year!
