There are just 658 wolves in Michigan.
It has taken nearly 50 years for Michigan's wolf population to recover, and yet, with their recent removal from the Endangered Species List, legislation has been passed that would allow them to be hunted for sport. There is no scientific reason to hunt wolves. Check out this great FAQ page on the Keep Michigan Wolves Protected Website for more information.
In 2013, more than a quarter of a million signatures were gathered to place a referendum on the 2014 ballot so that voters could vote on whether or not the wolf hunting legislation should be enacted. Since then, PA 21 has been introduced, which nullifies the previous referendum by taking the decision of which species should be deemed as game out of the hands of the people.
There is currently a new petition being circulated to place a referendum of PA 21 on the ballot. In order to achieve this, at least 225,000 signatures must be gathered. We can do this, but only with the help of signature gatherers like you. Visit the Keep Michigan Wolves Protected website and sign up to be a signature collector.
If you are already a registered signature gatherer, great!
