Compassion in Fashion Archives
Event History
Compassion in Fashion (CIF) was started by HSGV member, Alexis Croswell in the winter of 2011 in order to bring awareness to the use of animals in the cosmetics and clothing industries. Each year, HSGV collaborates with GVSU's Fashion Club to host this event which includes a runway show of fashions from local businesses with some clothing made by Fashion Club members, a guest speaker, and a raffle of great prizes from local stores. We also feature tables where attendees can learn more about issues including a fur testing station to show the difference between real and fake fur, an animal legislation table as well as tables for the local businesses featured in the show and event sponsors. Raffle proceeds from the event benefit West Michigan Critter Haven and Kent County Animal Shelter.
